Fred's Bakery and Deli was founded over seventy years ago by a Jewish refugee from Germany who opened the bakery in Los Angeles shortly after arriving in America. Originally located in the heart of Beverlywood, a predominantly Jewish neighborhood, our bakery quickly became a staple among the local residents thanks to its authentic German baked goods.
Our founder, whose name was actually Freddie, blended his decades of baking experience with the knowledge he brought from Germany to create a menu of unique and traditional European favorites. With his knack for selecting only the finest ingredients, he and his staff quickly developed a loyal following among locals who wanted the highest quality baked goods.
The bakery quickly proved to be a success, so after only two years, Freddie decided to expand his business by moving to a larger location near the Beverly Center and adding a deli counter to cater to the growing requests for sandwiches and salads. The bakery thrived in this new setting, and within another few years, the restaurant and bakery had to be moved to a larger space due to the increased demand for their products.
The demand for Fred's bakery has continued for the last seven decades, with us continuing to serve Los Angeles with a variety of authentic European pastries and breads that continue to preserve the same traditional recipe formulas and techniques mastered by Freddie so long ago. Our commitment to using only the finest ingredients, combined with Freddie's original recipe formulas, has made our pastries and breads a favorite throughout the years.
